Declaration of Security

This Declaration of Security describes how DefenseWise protects information collected from or about you. DefenseWise takes commercially reasonable precautions to protect the confidentiality, integrity and security of your information, including personal data. DefenseWise also advises users to be careful with their information, including personal data, when using the Internet.

Does the DefenseWise website provide secure connections to the address ?

The DefenseWise website "www.defense-wise.com" is able to provide a secure connection between your computer and our server. We use an encryption technology called Secure Socket Layers (SSL). This secure connection is maintained until you leave our site. Although we use SSL encryption to preserve the confidentiality of your personal data as it travels over the Internet, "perfect security" does not exist and we cannot guarantee the security of personal data transmission over the Internet.

Who is primarily responsible for password maintenance?

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your passwords. DefenseWise has the right to assume that any person accessing its website using a password assigned to them has the right to do so. You shall be solely responsible for the activities of any person accessing our website using a password assigned to you, even if that person is not, in fact, authorized by you. If you have reason to believe that your password has been compromised or used without authorization, you should promptly change it using the functionality provided on the site or notify DefenseWise that your account has been compromised.

Which servers and hosts does DefenseWise use?

In addition to SSL technology, the server used by DefenseWise is secured by appropriate software and responsible management of encryption keys and other control and security procedures by our hosting providers, in accordance with current international standards, such as those published by the American Institute for Standards and Technology (NIST).

Our main host is Odoo S.A., whose registered office is located at 40, Chaussée de Namur, 1367 Grand-Rosière, Belgium.

Our secondary host and cloud service provider is Google Cloud EMEA Ltd, headquartered at 70 Sir John Rogerson's Quay, D02 R296 Dublin, Ireland.

Odoo's privacy and security policy can be found here; Google Cloud EMEA Ltd's privacy and security policy can be found here.

What security standards does DefenseWise apply, directly or indirectly, and where is the data hosted?

The hosting centers used by DefenseWise all meet the following security standards: ISO 27001, ISO 27017, ISO 27018, SOC 1, SOC 2, SOC3, PCI-DSS, HIPAA, CISPE, CSA STAR and ensure end-to-end encryption with AES (Advanced Encryption Standard) with a minimum strength of 256 Bits constant. DefenseWise has also opted for client-side encryption (CSE) for enhanced transaction security.

Your data is hosted in Belgium and France, and back-up locations are contractually limited to the following countries: Canada, France, Belgium or the Netherlands. However, for certain services provided by DefenseWise's third-party service providers, servers may be located in other countries, but always within the European Union.

Which third-party service providers (TSPs) does DefenseWise use?

For its services, DefenseWise uses, directly or indirectly, the services of the commercial service provider Odoo, as well as some of its TSPs as follows:

Google Mail, as an e-mail application when communications take place outside of the communications exchanged as part of the execution of projects / missions contracted with DefenseWise through the customer relationship management (CRM) tool provided by Odoo. Google Mail boasts numerous information security features, including 99% blocking of unsolicited mail, anti-phishing and malware protection. Other features include identification of corrupted links, alerts on potentially dangerous attached files, monitoring of user account usage, the ability to set parameters for the transmission, copying, downloading or printing of messages, and to assign them a limited lifetime. Finally, Google Mail encrypts the content of messages when they reside on your account and when they are in transit between Google's hosting centers.

Google Calendar, for managing dates, appointments and virtual meetings. In terms of security, Google Calendar lets you configure access to and sharing of calendar data, as well as event visibility. All these parameters can be modified by the user. DefenseWise applies a policy of caution and always adopts the most restrictive settings, which nonetheless enable its staff to collaborate in the accomplishment of its projects/missions.

Microsoft Teams, as a real-time communication and virtual meeting application with mandatory data such as the type and version of the user's device to ensure service connectivity, the transmission of security patches and diagnostic data to detect serious operating faults, but also optional data including items such as how one sorts the to-do list (alphabetical/chronological/etc.), how often this sorting order is changed, and how often the + button is pressed in a conversation to use emojis. Each user can decide whether to allow Microsoft to collect optional data.

OneSignal, for in-browser push notifications for DefenseWise site visitors, with non-personal browsing data, geolocation and language information (non-identifiable information) as the sharing object, and the browser/mobile device identity as the storage object.

Plausible, as an application to analyze traffic data on the DefenseWise website. All site measurements are carried out completely anonymously. Cookies are not used and no personal data is collected. There are no persistent identifiers. Nor is there any cross-site or cross-device tracking. DefenseWise site data is not used for any other purpose. All visitor data is processed exclusively by servers owned and operated by European companies and does not leave the European Union.

Google Analytics for anonymous analysis of DefenseWise website audience and possible unsubscriptions, for the purpose of sharing non-personal browser data, anonymized IP address, geolocation information and language (non-identifiable information).

Google reCAPTCHA for the protection of forms used on the DefenseWise site, for the purpose of sharing browser and device characteristics, and Google cookies.

Google Search Console as a website indexing application to monitor and maintain DefenseWise's presence in Google search results. More specifically, Google Search Console observes user behavior prior to visiting a website and helps confirm that Google can detect the website, index its content, generate data on the site's search traffic or user click-through rate, receive alerts in case of spam or other site problems such as misleading pages or broken links, as well as know which sites are referencing DefenseWise. No personal data is collected by Google Search Console, and there are no persistent identifiers.
